Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) has announced that its Indian subsidiary, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, will begin production of flex fuel vehicles this fiscal year. In a recent regulatory filing, SMC revealed that the development of flex fuel engines is already underway at Maruti Suzuki. These engines will be capable of running on different fuel blends, including ethanol. Maruti Suzuki is also working with dairy cooperatives to set up biogas production plants. The biogas produced can be used directly in CNG-powered vehicles. The company says that these biogas plants will help generate income for rural communities.
