Hyderabad: Mohammed Zaid, from Old Malakpet, was critically injured after being hit by a speeding car in Connecticut, USA, on Sept 7.Zaid, who was pursuing a graduation degree at the School of Health Professionals at the University of Bridgeport, was admitted to St Vincent’s Medical Centre, Hartford Healthcare, in Bridgeport. He was reportedly on his way to a grocery store at around 11 pm when the accident occurred.His father, Mohammed Ismail, appealed to the Union external affairs minister, S Jaishankar, to direct officials at the Indian Embassy in Washington and the Consulate General of India in New York to help him visit his son in the hospital.Ismail said that he had applied for a visa for himself, his wife and his brother to travel to the US so that they could be with Zaid. He also requested that the US authorities clear their visa application.Mohammed Zaid travelled to the US in July 2024 to study. MBT spokesperson Amjad Ullah Khan wrote to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Sept 10 to offer assistance to the family and said he received information about the incident from people from Hyderabad who live there.
