Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh govt initiated action against corrupt officers following instructions from the AP Lokayukta. The Lokayukta directed the govt to take action against the officers after receiving a complaint from V Muralidhar Reddy of Kurnool District. The complaint alleged that T Anjana Devi, former tahsildar of Kallur, and KL Vara Prasada Rao, village revenue officer of Lakshmipuram village, Kallur mandal, had issued bogus house site pattas in survey no. 25/48 of Dupadu village to certain beneficiaries in exchange for a bribe of 4 lakh.Following the institution’s directions, the chief commissioner of land administration and special chief secretary, govt of AP, conducted an inquiry through the joint collector, Kurnool, Upa Lokayukta P Rajani informed on Thursday.Pursuant to the inquiry findings, T Anjana Devi’s service was reduced to a lower stage in the time scale of pay for a period not exceeding one year, without cumulative effect and without adversely affecting her pension. Furthermore, two increments of pay were withheld from Vara Prasada Rao, also without cumulative effect.In view of the disciplinary action taken by the govt, the Upa Lokayukta ordered that the complaint be closed. The institution of Lokayukta reiterated its commitment to addressing citizens’ grievances and ensuring accountability in public administration, Rajani added.
