Diarrhoea cases rise to 263 in Vijayawada, health teams intensify monitoring | Vijayawada News


Vijayawada: The diarrhoea outbreak in New Raja Rajeshwaripeta of Vijayawada saw cases climb to 263 as of Sept 13 (4 pm), prompting round-the-clock monitoring by district health authorities. Of the total cases, 139 patients are currently under treatment, while 124 were discharged after recovery.NTR district collector Dr G Lakshmisha, who inspected medical services at New Government General Hospital (GGH) on Saturday, assured that the govt was taking all necessary steps to restore normalcy. “There is no need to panic. We are identifying cases immediately and providing the best treatment available. Special teams are on continuous field monitoring,” he said.The collector later visited the affected colony in Raja Rajeshwaripeta, where he interacted with residents and supervised awareness campaigns. Health workers are conducting door-to-door surveys to identify symptomatic patients and provide timely treatment. Precautionary measures also include the closure of food outlets in the area and the distribution of awareness leaflets urging citizens to follow hygiene practices.In response to public concerns about water safety, mineral water is being supplied to every household in the colony. Authorities have also set up a command control room (91549 70454) for citizens to report symptoms or seek assistance.“The state govt is fully vigilant. We are tracking every case, ensuring proper treatment, and preventing further spread. People need not fear but must remain cautious,” Dr Lakshmisha said. On the other hand, health wing authorities launched a city-wide fever survey and anti-mosquito larvae drive.
