Evening downpour disrupts traffic, waterlogs Hyderabad streets | Hyderabad News


Hyderabad: Rain lashed Hyderabad on Sunday evening, disrupting traffic and leaving several areas waterlogged. Musheerabad recorded 123.8 mm, the highest in the city, while Siddipet recorded 138 mm of rain, the highest in Telangana, according to data from the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS).According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), areas such as KPHB, Miyapur, and Balanagar, along with Serilingampally covering Gachibowli, Lingampally, and Hitec City, and Quthbullapur, including Jeedimetla, Kompally, and Suraram, recorded heavy rainfall. TSDPS rainfall data showed several areas in the city recorded high rainfall on Sunday evening. In Musheerabad, Boudha Nagar community hall registered 123.8 mm, MCH colony library building reported 116 mm, and Jawahar Nagar community hall saw 114 mm. The Osmania University registrar office recorded 105.8 mm and Kapra GHMC office reported 102.8 mm. Himayatnagar, Gachibowli, Mallapur, and Malkajgiri recorded 70-100 mm.The sudden downpour led to traffic congestion and waterlogging in several parts of the city. GHMC and HYDRAA teams were deployed in many areas, including Musheerabad, to clear inundated stretches. Heavy waterlogging on Banjara Hills Road No. 12 brought traffic to a standstill, causing major disruptions for commuters. GHMC mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi visited the site to supervise relief operations. Meanwhile, the IMD also reported very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Mulugu district, while heavy rain lashed isolated locations in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Peddapalli, and Mahabubabad districts. It issued a yellow alert for Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, and Narayanpet districts for the next three days. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty wind reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph are also very likely to occur at isolated places across all districts of Telangana over the next three days.
