Cochin to Bangalore on my Suzuki Gixxer SF 250: Ride experience

Cochin to Bangalore on my Suzuki Gixxer SF 250: Ride experience BHPian neil.jericho recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Was it my arrival in Cochin that brought the city temporary respite from the unabating rains or was that one massive coincidence? Who can tell? Heavy rains were forecast for the day that I was supposed to ride back to Bangalore and there was the distinct possibility that I would end up having to postpone my return on account of the inclement weather. The dreadful road conditions that I had read about reared their ugly head as I was caught out by a couple of carefully disguised and outright dangerous potholes on the highway near Trichur. As I neared Palakkad, I had to pull out my waterproof Revit liner (you can wear it either over or inside your riding jacket) and ride through about 35 minutes of rains. The weather was lovely after I crossed the border into Tamil Nadu. The most notable part of ride happened in the Coimbatore to Erode stretch when a group of 3 riders on Yamaha R15s who were returning from a weekend holiday, were slowly gaining on me before some slow moving heavy vehicles caused them to lose their momentum and fall well behind. A couple of minutes later, I found that they were back in my rear view mirrors and it wasnt long before they left me in their rear view mirrors! Of course, they were pushing their motorcycles a lot harder than I was, but it did serve as a gentle reminder that even if I do thoroughly enjoy riding the GSRRRRR 250, I dont usually tap into most of its available power. And people wonder why I dont have a middle-weight or litre class motorcycle in my garage! The rest of the ride was rather uneventful. Heavy rains belted down on Krishnagiri exactly one minute after I placed my lunch order and ceased as soon as I finished my meal. Talk about good fortune! All in all, the return ride took the usual 10 hours that I always end up requiring for this familiar 550 kilometer long journey. Check outBHPian commentsfor more insights and information.
