Hyderabad: A Class IX student of a leading school at Nacharam suffered serious injuries on his private parts when his classmates allegedly attacked him under the pretext of giving ‘birthday bumps’.

The boy, aged 14 years, went to school on his birthday on August 29. “During the school hours, a group of friends lifted the boy and gave him bumps in the classroom. During the play, a classmate hit the boy’s private parts with his knee, leading to severe pain,” said the police.

The school vice principal, on learning about the incident, shifted the boy to a private hospital. He was later referred to another hospital at Banjara Hills. A surgery was performed recently and he was advised bed rest for three months.

Based on a complaint by the boy’s mother, the Nacharam police registered a case and are investigating.
