done: arunHyderabad: The Telangana high court on Tuesday dismissed a petition challenging the appointment of N Balaram as director and in-charge CMD of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwara Rao ruled that the petitioner, a former SCCL employee dismissed from service, had no locus standi to question the appointment. The judge noted that the petitioner was neither in service nor a contender for the post, and had filed the case with malafide intentions, thereby wasting the court’s time. In dismissing the plea, which sought to declare Balaram ineligible for the post, Justice Rao also pointed out that the petitioner had filed multiple petitions in the past. In one instance, the high court imposed a fine on him, which he paid only under judicial pressure. The court further observed that the petitioner is facing around 18 cases and has a history of filing frivolous petitions. SCCL’s counsel, Sriharsha Reddy, argued that the petition was driven by ulterior motives, as the petitioner had been removed from service and was misusing the legal process to harass the organisation.
