BHPian rprmover recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Well, working closely on DPF and its failures taught may things.Not only soot but ash accumulation is the prime cause of DPF failure.Ash generally comes from Engine oil, when additives of Engine oil Burn, they stay in DPF, and active/passive regeneration doesn’t burn Ash Load.After warranty keep hawk eye on what kind of Engine oil you are using in your engine.DPF’s can be rejuvenated by baking in Commercial ovens under proper guidelines but avoid getting in that situation.Keep track on how frequent the regeneration warning is triggering. For example, in Innova crysta or Fortuner system gives notification on regeneration. once vehicle will be crossing 1.5 lakhs- 2 lakhs kilometers Diesel injectors are prone to valve seat wear & tear may cause improper/excessive diesel spray. this will trouble DPF as Soot mass load accumulation will be faster. So, need to keep proper care of Diesel injectors by checking the back leak of injectors.Don’t fall trap with water cleaning of EGT components (DPF & SCR).
