Vijayawada: A pilgrim bus carrying around 50 passengers from Rajasthan overturned near Merikapudi village in Pirangipuram mandal of Guntur district in the early hours of Saturday, leaving several pilgrims with minor injuries. According to police, the bus was on its way from Guntur to Srisailam when the driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and overturn. Local residents alerted the police, and Pirangipuram police rushed to the spot immediately. A preliminary inquiry suggests that passengers sustained minor injuries. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital, where they received treatment. Police said there were no casualties reported so far.Traffic was briefly disrupted on the stretch but was later restored. The bus was carrying pilgrims who started their journey from Rajasthan to visit the famous Srisailam temple.Police said the exact cause of the accident is under investigation, and a case has been registered.
