Kavitha rules out joining Cong, says no decision on launching new party

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi founder Kalvakuntla Kavitha clarified that she has no intention of joining the Congress party and has not yet decided on launching a new political party.“It is good for democracy to have more parties, and one should welcome it,” she said, adding that in politics, “nobody gives you space; you have to create opportunities and move forward.” Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Kavitha accused social media channels and outlets linked to BRS leaders T Harish Rao and J Santosh Kumar of carrying out a malicious campaign against her. “I have nothing personal against Harish Rao except over the Kaleshwaram project issue,” she stated. She also recalled alerting her brother, BRS working president KT Rama Rao in 2016 that certain irrigation department files were being sent directly to the chief minister without following proper procedures and officers’ clearances. Regarding her resignation as MLC, Kavitha said the letter had already been submitted to the legislative council chairman, who would take the decision. “I decided to quit the MLC post as I got it from the party,” she added.
