Senior leader of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former minister T. Harish Rao criticised the State government for sharing only 34% of the ₹2,360 crore to workers out of ₹6,394 crore net profit made by Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) during 2024-25.
In a statement, Mr. Rao demanded on Monday that workers be paid 34% share in the total net profit and not the share in only 37% of the total net profit. He alleged that the State government had forced the company management to cut the share in profits to workers by over 50% last year too.
He sought what had happened to ₹2,283 crore kept aside from the company’s net profit last year for its future plans and now ₹4,034 crore was being kept aside in the same name. He reminded that Singareni workers were paid only 16% of the profit share from 1998-99 to 2010-11 and in the first year after formation of Telangana it was increased to 21% in 2014-15.
In 2022-23, the share of profit (bonus) to workers was increased to 32% out of the total net profit.
