Former Rajya Sabha MP T.G. Venkatesh, BJP State spokesperson Vinusha Reddy, BJYM State president Sunil Reddy, along with party cadre and students participated in the rally sporting banners ‘Let us build a drug-free society and a drug-free India’. The rally was taken out from Raj Vihar Centre to the Collectorate.

Addressing the students, Mr. Venkatesh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared a war against consumption of drugs in the country and every individual should be part of it. He said that while the government was creating awareness about the ill-effects of cigarettes and alcohol to bring down their consumption, it was unfortunate that some youngsters were getting addicted to drugs.

Mr. Venkatesh suggested that it should be made mandatory that those contesting elections and joining government jobs should give a declaration that they would never indulge in alcohol, cigarettes or drugs. Mr. Venkatesh said that he was paying ₹45 lakh as non-alcohol and non-smoking allowance to 3,000 employees in his industries at ₹1,500 per person. “I am running my hotel, Mourya Inn, without serving alcohol,” he said.

BJP State spokesperson Vinusha Reddy urged the youth to get addicted to nation building and not drugs. “Fit India needs fit Indians. Adopt healthy lifestyle, eat healthy and exercise regularly. Mr. Narendra Modi always gives importance to health and emphasises every one to adopt healthy lifestyle,” she said.

She said that the BJP had taken up ‘Seva Pakhwada’ for 15 days from September 17 to October 2 to mark the 75th birthday celebrations of Narendra Modi and Namo Yuva Run 75 was part of it.
