Hyderabad: Stating that the Congress was betraying Telangana’s culture, BRS working president KT Rama Rao lambasted the ruling party for removing Telangana’s identity ‘Bathukamma‘ from Telangana Thalli by redesigning the statue.

He reiterated that the BRS would not stop its fight until party president K Chandrashekhar Rao was reinstated as Chief Minister and evildoers who robbed Telangana Thalli of ‘Bathukamma’ were chased away.

Participating in the Bathukamma celebrations organised by the BRS at People’s Plaza in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Rama Rao extended festival greetings to Telangana people across the world. He assured that when the party returned to power, the venue would be permanently renamed ‘Bathukamma Plaza.’

The BRS leader recalled that it was former Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao’s dream for Telangana’s language and culture to find a place of pride globally.

“Whether in Warasiguda or Washington, Ameerpet or America, Khairatabad or Qatar, KCR wanted our people to speak proudly in our mother tongue. That was why we fought for a separate statehood,” he said.

Paying an emotional tribute to the martyrs of the Telangana movement, Rama Rao said every Bathukamma carried the smiles of children who sacrificed their lives for statehood. The once-marginalised Telangana dialect now commanded respect, with songs in the language celebrated across the world.

“This cultural renaissance is the true victory of Telangana,” he asserted.

The celebrations received a huge response from people of Hyderabad, with former Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, MLAs T Padmarao Goud, C Laxma Reddy, Kaushik Reddy, Kaleru Venkatesh, Mutha Gopal, MLCs Takkalpalli Ravinder Rao, Deshapati Srinivas, and other leaders joining the event.
