VW Taigun AT 1.0 : Fun drive cut short by infotainment system breakdown

VW Taigun AT 1.0 : Fun drive cut short by infotainment system breakdown BHPian MoHAA recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Troubling update on my week-old Taigun: 2 days back, I took out the car for a short drive and noticed that the infotainment system wouldn’t power on. This was when the car was just 5 days out of the showroom. Concerned, I called up the PPS motors Hebbal dealer, wherein the Sales executive showed interest in resolving the issue, however, his manager shrugged it off by dropping a number in the chat and telling it’s a factory sleep setting and he can’t arrange a visit to have a look, and I need to visit a workshop. Meanwhile, I called the number provided by the manager, and it turned out to be a backend guy with no technical expertise. Upon inquiring from him, he shared the workshop number, which turned out to be wrong! Frustrated, I called the service centre directly, booked an early morning appointment and landed in the service centre. After a wait of 45 minutes at the Nagavara PPS Service centre, I was told that they have now multiple vehicles with the same complaint, and it seems that VW is aware, but is currently dragging its feet over it, and they can’t do anything for now. I asked for the acknowledgement of the issue from the service centre, which they obliged via email. Now, basically, why am I stuck with a dead infotainment screen with no rear camera support and no firm date on when this will get resolved? However, the service centre has confirmed that the screen will be replaced, but again, there are no dates on this yet. Upon further researching I also found that a YTuber Deepsinghal had recently uploaded a video on the same issue, and there are loads of comments on his video of people highlighting the same issue, so definitely this is not an isolated incident and probably a manufacturing defect. Adding the link to my issue: Video: Link Adding the Deep Singhal video (also read into the comments): Video: Link Currently, the preliminary finding from VW is that high-tensionwires in metros are frying out some critical components of the infotainment system and hence the issue, which I feel is one of the most ludicrous reason I have heard in a while. However, it’s quite possible that other vehicles will probably run into this issue very soon, hence keep your eyes peeled for this one! Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
