NEW DELHI: A young woman who married against her parents’ wishes was allegedly forcibly taken from her in-laws’ home in Narsampally village on Wednesday, police said. A video of the incident has gone viral. The couple tied the knot four months ago, but the woman’s parents opposed the marriage, believing the groom did not have a “proper” career. Both families belong to the same caste and are related. According to police, after the couple returned home following their wedding, the woman’s parents and relatives visited her in-laws’ house, which led to an argument. The woman was then reportedly pulled out of the house and dragged into a car. The husband and in-laws claimed that chilli powder was thrown at them and they were beaten during the incident. A kidnap case has been filed against the woman’s parents and four other family members at Keesara police station. The woman later informed police that she is currently with her father and plans to come to the station the next day.(With agency inputs)
