A junior lineman from the Gachibowli division in Hyderabad was arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) personnel on Friday for accepting a bribe of ₹11,000.
The accused, identified as A. Srikanth Goud, allegedly demanded ₹30,000, and was trapped while accepting ₹11,000 from a complainant.
According to ACB officials, the lineman sought the bribe in exchange of changing the wiring at the complainant’s house from 5 KV to 11 KV and to unseal and seal the electricity meter.
The tainted amount was recovered from him and he was sent to judicial remand.
Further investigation is under way.
Meanwhile, the ACB urged people to report any demand for bribes by government officials on its toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be lodged via WhatsApp, Facebook, or on X, with assurance that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
