Nalwa Aero has become the first company in India to receive Design Organisation Approval (DOA) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for eVTOL aircraft with 5 seats and above. The Nalwa Aphulas is an aircraft with electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) capability. It has a maximum range of 450 km and can cruise at 350 km/h. It has a payload capacity of 1,000 kg and a service ceiling of over 2,000 meters. The Aphulas uses a box wing design to maximise aerodynamic efficiency and structural strength. It has 8 tilting rotors – four each on the front and rear wings. The aircraft can be configured for multiple applications, such as air ambulance, cargo, and passenger transport. Kuljeet Sandhu, CEO of Nalwa Aero, said that the company’s vision is to create affordable air mobility. “The goal is to make air taxis accessible in India, starting at just Rs 200.” It aims to begin its operations from Delhi-NCR.
