A short 50 km ride to Kanakpura road & an intriguing discovery

A short 50 km ride to Kanakpura road & an intriguing discovery BHPian low-key-wiz recently shared this with other enthusiasts: I have been going on these short solo rides on Kanakapura Road. After 50 kms or so, I come across this palatial building that makes you stop and stare. It is in the middle of nowhere and takes me by surprise. This has become my usual spot to take my first short break – get off, stretch legs, take some snaps and be on my way. I always see increasing signs of urbanization every time I stop there. Industrial meets natural – somewhere near Kanakapura Road. In my most recent ride, I could see a slew of tea/breakfast stalls that have sprung up right in front of it and business is bustling. It looks like a busy bus stop as well – people coming to drop their acquaintances on bikes and scooters, early morning buses trundling along, students and professionals getting up and down. I stopped for a coffee break there and then I realized that it is a Medical Research Center. I could have never guessed that. And the grandeur of the building did not help either. While writing this blog, I googled about it. I was fascinated to learn that it is, in fact, the Dr. Chandramma Dayananda Sagar Institute of Medical Education and Research (CDSIMER), part of the Dayananda Sagar University group. The palace-like faade of CDSIMER Never did I imagine that a modern medical college and hospital campus would look like a luxury resort to the passer-by. Sadly, I could not find any information on who the architect was or why was this designed the way it was. Life never stops pulling out surprises now and then. Speaking of surprises, Zephyr shied away from giving me any throughout the ride. This was my first ride after the successful Gaganachukki ride almost 4 months back! The long gap was because I met with a little accident some time back, and work was hard to catch up with. Though this was a sub-100 km ride, Zephyr never faltered even after being out of action for a long time. I’m beginning to feel the last repair kind of worked. And I’ll need it all the more – as I’m planning a trip to KGF next week. Read BHPian comments for more insights and information.
