BHPian Chrome6Boy recently shared this with other enthusiasts:Ownership ExperienceI purchased my MG ZS EV in July 2022 after a year’s wait due to semiconductor shortages from China. Initially, I had set my sights on the 2021 Executive model, but it was never allotted, as many cars in India faced delays during that period. I sent regular emails to follow up on the purchase, but to no avail. At the time, I was driving a Vento TSI, whose second DSG gearbox was on its last legs. I was desperately hoping the ZS would be allotted before my Vento gave out. Fortunately, my old sales advisor left MG, and the new SA took up my case with the General Manager. I was informed that the 2021 model was no longer available, and instead, I was allotted a White Exclusive 2022 model. I agreed to the Exclusive trim, even though I personally detest sunroofs and find them useless in Chennai’s climate. But I frankly couldn’t wait any longer. I’ve taken several road trips in the ZS EV, and the charging experiences on highways have been mostly positive. I encountered occasional power cuts and had to wait for other cars, the delays have never exceeded an hour or two. Here are some of my notable road trips: Chennai – Hyderabad – Chennai: 1,300 km Chennai – Bangalore – Chennai: 700 km Chennai – Sringeri – Chennai: 1,400 km Chennai – Alappuzha – Chennai: 1,500 km We also own a Hyundai Venue DCT, but we rarely use it unless the ZS is unavailable, and we certainly don’t take it on road trips. For highway charging, I planned stops using PlugShare and found Zeon to be the most reliable charger provider in our experience. Maintenance has been remarkably affordable, especially since my previous car was a turbo petrol. At 55,000 km, I replaced the tyres, and at 60,000 km, I changed the LV battery. The brake pads are still original, and the estimated cost for the 70,000 km service is only Rs. 3,000. One headlight was replaced under warranty due to an LED issue. The car has been largely trouble-free, though there’s a rattling sound at speeds around 100 km/h, the source of which I haven’t been able to pinpoint. If I play music I can barely notice the rattling noise so I decided to leave it alone. According to the service advisor, the battery’s SOH is at 95%, which aligns with the 320 km range I’m currently getting. I’m really happy with my MG ZS EV. After 70,000 km, it still feels fresh and doesn’t exhibit the wear and tear I experienced with my Vento at the same mileage. With the current discounts available, I highly recommend the ZS EV to anyone looking for a value for money, high quality electric vehicle.Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
