Blissful Sunday ride: Great weather and wood-fired idlis for breakfast

Blissful Sunday ride: Great weather and wood-fired idlis for breakfast BHPian neil.jericho recently shared this with other enthusiasts: A year and a half ago, a few of us had ridden to Halagur to enjoy the very popular wood-fired idli breakfast that everyone keeps raving about. Back then, I had hopped onto my Royal Enfield Continental GT 535 to join KarthikK and a non-TBHPian friend for what turned out to be a mouth-wateringbreakfast. Given that the restaurant had recently moved to another location, KarthikK suggested that we head there for an early Sunday morning breakfast ride. One of the members of our small group ended up sleeping through all his alarms but given that he had a KTM Duke 390 at his disposal, he arrived at Halagur by the time we were done with our post-breakfast coffee. Just KTM things, I tell you! Offroading with our sports bikes (or not!) Blessed with great weather Back to our ride, the three of us stopped for a few pictures around 15 kilometers before Halagur. The only spot of bother on the otherwise blissful Sunday morning ride was the road leading into Halagur town, which is in the process of getting converted from tar to concrete. The new and improved restaurant Much brighter interiors than before Sumptuous indeed! Even though the old restaurant was nondescript, the food that they served was top-notch. While everyone talks about the lovely idlis, their excellent dosas do fly under the radar. The new restaurant doesn’t have the same charm that the old one did, but moving to a bigger setup was inevitable. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived. Hence, we were able to seat ourselves at a couple of tables while also comfortably managing our riding gear. By the time our fourth group member reached the restaurant, it was impossible to get a seat. Our return ride was quite a bit of fun, with all the bikes maintaining a healthy pace. All in all, I ended up clocking exactly 160 kilometers on this memorable breakfast ride. Now, I have to ensure that I don’t go another year and a half before heading back to this restaurant! Did I mention that we were blessed with great weather? Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
