HYDERABAD: Hyderabad witnessed a 17% decline in crime over the past year, outgoing Commissioner of Police CV Anand said on Sunday. Reviewing the city’s crime record along with senior officials, Anand compared figures between September 2023–August 2024 and September 2024–August 2025. The data showed that total cases fell from 38,206 to 31,533. “In property offence cases, there has been a reduction from 5,484 to 4,082. The recovery rate improved from 54% to 55%,” Anand said. Police officials added that cybercrime cases dropped by 14%, with the detection rate improving from 40% to 42%. Anand credited teamwork within the force for the decline. “The Hyderabad City Police have worked together to safeguard peace and security, achieving remarkable results. As a result, festivals, processions, and public meetings are being conducted peacefully without disturbances. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to every officer and staff member for this success. We proved that with collective effort, we can achieve anything. Let us continue with the same spirit and work towards making Hyderabad a ‘Crime-Free City’,” he said.
