US President Trump targets Movies after HIB Visas

US President Donald J. Trump targeted HIB Visas and increased rates to US$100k and it would have huge effect on Indians who are planning to settle in USA. Now, he announced that he will announce tarrifs on movies from other countries. He stated that American film business is being dangerously effected by foreign films.

Normally, Telugu films put rates of US$35, US$40 and US$50 for premieres and other days, while Hollywood movies ticket prices are capped at US$10 and IMAX go up to only US$15. With such high rates, Telugu film distributors from US tend to pay high deals for overseas rights. But Trump seems to be going after it.

He wrote on his Bluesky app, “Our movie making business has been stolen from the United States of America, by other Countries, just like stealing “candy from a baby.” California, with its weak and incompetent Governor, has been particularly hard hit! Therefore, in order to solve this long time, never ending problem, I will be imposing a 100% Tariff on any and all movies that are made outside of the United States. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Well, tariffs on foreign films will result in lesser ticket rates on higher taxes that will further increase the rates. Hindi and other language films in USA doesn’t go beyond US$10 ticket prices but Telugu biggies does go for exorbitant prices. We have to wait and see, how it will effect business of Telugu films in the area.
