BHPian FlightDrive recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Hi all, I currently drive a Maruti SX4 and am considering a new car. I wanted to share my thoughts and dilemmas, and get advice.Requirements:Budget: 20 lakhs otr Bangalore. My dad is in his late 50s and will also be driving this car, so ease of driving, parking, and comfort are very important.I want a factory-fitted 360 camera – not an aftermarket one.Automatic transmission only. The car should be fairly reliable and low-maintenance.I personally enjoy driving, so I’d love a car that’s engaging enough on open roads. The dilemma:I’m not sure whether to upgrade to a bigger segment for more space, features, and comfort, or to downgrade/side-grade to a smaller car that’s easier to park in the city.I’m looking for cars that can satisfy both my dad’s comfort and my own driving enjoyment. Any suggestions, experiences.Would love to hear from anyone who has faced a similar situation – balancing a parent’s comfort with personal driving preferences. Here’s what BHPian Rohit_Quad added to the discussion:For your needs, I feel the best bet is the SX(O) variants of the Creta, Petrol CVT and if you are looking for more power, the GTX Plus DCT Seltos. They should tick all your boxes, as these are the only 2 variants of the cars (i could find) which have a factory fitted 360 degree camera. We bought the 1st gen Seltos for my dad, HTX IVT and he is very happy with it. The IVT/ CVT’s are fairly hassle free and easy on the pocket. I read some where that a Seltos face lift is on the way too, keep an eye out for that. Coming from an SX4, I am sure you will feel that you have upgraded into a more ‘latest/ luxurious’ car.Meanwhile, BHPian IshaanIan had to say this regarding the matter:Any reason to move on from the SX4? They just don’t make cars like that anymore assuming it is a petrol. Personally I would go for a car from a lower segment because that to me is where progress can be felt; solid torque converter options with paddle shifters, 6 airbags ABS and ESP as standard. You couldn’t even dream of getting such kit in a small car back in the day. Bigger cars on the other hand feel compromised by overly efficient and weak drivetrain options under 1.5 liters in displacement. You would have to go beyond 30 lacs to truly feel like an upgrade has been made imo. Stuff like the Kylaq and the Fronx is where the scene is at.Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
