Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President and MLC B. Mahesh Kumar Goud ridiculed the Bharat Rashtra Samithi’s (BRS) recently launched ‘Dues Card’ campaign, saying it has become a laughing stock among the people.
“Telangana, once a surplus State, was turned into a debt-ridden State by BRS and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The BRS that pushed the State into massive borrowings has no right to even utter the words ‘debts and dues’,” he said at a press conference in Hyderabad on Tuesday (September 30, 2025).
“Farm loan waiver, Rythu Bharosa, bonus for paddy, subsidised LPG cylinders, 200 units of free power, enhanced Aarogyasri coverage, ration cards, Indiramma houses — are they ‘dues’?” he asked listing the Congress’s schemes and said the party was repaying the huge debts left behind by the BRS.
He accused the BRS of running a decade-long misrule filled with scams in projects like Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project and Formula-E race, while failing to fulfill promises like Dalit Bandhu and one government job for every household.
Expressing confidence, the TPCC chief said Congress will sweep the upcoming rural local body elections, winning more than 80% of the seats. He also asserted that the party will secure victory in the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election.
The caste survey was carried out transparently under the guidance of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. “This is historic, as no other State in the country has conducted such a comprehensive caste survey,” he said, adding that the Government is determined to secure positive court verdicts on BC reservations. “By ensuring BC reservations, the Congress has once again proved that it alone has the credibility to deliver on promises,” he remarked.
Mr. Goud alleged that the BRS and BJP were working hand in hand running a malicious campaign against the Revanth Reddy Government. He also lashed out at the BJP-led Centre, accusing it of “looting Telangana” through GST and fertiliser policies. “For eight years, the BJP government at the Centre drained public money in the name of GST,” he said.
He challenged BJP leaders Etela Rajender, Bandi Sanjay, and Arvind Dharmapuri to question Prime Minister Narendra Modi directly on BC reservations. “Instead of protecting BC rights, the BJP is trying to snatch their rights,” he alleged.
