Bears CB Josh Blackwell wins NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Chicago Bears cornerback Josh Blackwell was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week following his heroic effort in a 25-24 win over the Las Vegas Raiders last Sunday.

Blackwell blocked a 54-yard game-winning field goal attempt by Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson, which sealed the victory for Chicago to send them to 2-2 heading into the bye week.

This is the second time Blackwell has received NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, earning the honor in Week 18 of 2024 after his punt-return touchdown against the Green Bay Packers. Blackwell joins Devin Hester as the only non-kicker in Bears history to win the award multiple times.

This is the second consecutive week where a Bears player has been honored with “Player of the Week” honors. Quarterback Caleb Williams earned NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his career outing against the Dallas Cowboys, where he threw for 298 yards, four touchdowns, no turnovers, no sacks taken and a 142.6 passer rating.
