According to police, the couple, Praveen and Swetha, were married four months ago despite objections from Swetha’s parents, who claimed the groom did not have a “proper” career. Both families belong to the same caste and are related.
After the wedding, Swetha’s parents and relatives visited her in-laws’ home in Narsampally village, leading to an argument. It is alleged that they forcibly took her away, dragging her into a car. Praveen and his family claimed they were attacked and chilli powder was thrown at them during the altercation.
A kidnap case has been registered against Swetha’s parents and four others at Keesara police station. Swetha later told police she is with her father and plans to come to the station the following day. Investigations are ongoing.
