An elderly woman in Hyderabad was brutally assaulted by a police constable’s family in Madannapet Police Station after they clashed over the constable’s dog urinating near the house.

The attack that occurred around 11:15 am on Tuesday (September 30), was captured on CCTV. According to the footage, the constable’s wife and sister were seen attacking the woman.

Following this, the Madannapet police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.

The elderly woman was reportedly attacked by the constables’ wife and sister after she questioned them about their dog peeing outside her residence.

The victim has been identified as Suvarna. She confronted Constable Chandrakant after the incident, following which his sister and wife assaulted her.

According to the CCTV footage, the woman was allegedly slapping and punching Suvarna on the face and head. She then grabbed a stick from the constable and allegedly struck the elderly woman several times.

Shortly, another woman joined and they continued to beat Suvarna.

In a separate tragic incident, a young woman was allegedly abducted by her parents and relatives for marrying against their wishes in Keesara on Wednesday.

According to police, the couple, Praveen and Swetha, were married four months ago despite objections from Swetha’s parents, who claimed the groom did not have a “proper” career. Both families belong to the same caste and are related.

After the wedding, Swetha’s parents and relatives visited her in-laws’ home in Narsampally village, leading to an argument. It is alleged that they forcibly took her away, dragging her into a car. Praveen and his family claimed they were attacked and chilli powder was thrown at them during the altercation.
