Senior Congress leader and former Minister Ramreddy Damodar Reddy (73) passed away late on Wednesday (October 1, 2025) night in a hospital while undergoing treatment. His last rites will be performed on October 5 in Thungathurthy in Suryapet district.

A five-time MLA, Mr. Damodar Reddy, one of the senior Congress leader from the high profile Nalgonda district, represented Thungathurthy constituency four times and moved to neighbouring Suryapet Assembly seat after delimitation.

He made his debut as an MLA from Thungathurthy in 1985, winning on a Congress ticket, and went on to represent the constituency in 1989, 1999 and 2004. In 2009, he won from Suryapet.

He was inducted into the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Cabinet as Information Technology Minister in 2004 but missed the bus in 2009 when his elder brother Ramreddy Venkat Reddy was taken into the Cabinet.
