Hyderabad: Bandlaguda police have registered a case against Rehan bin Ali Masqati, son of Congress leader Ali Bin Ibrahim Masqati, following the death of a pillion rider in a road accident near the Falaknuma flyover. The accident occurred on Sept 30 near a hotel, just before the Falaknuma flyover. An SUV driven by Rehan allegedly rammed a scooter from behind. Sajeed, 55, who was riding the scooter, and his friend Abdul Hasnath, 63, a private firm worker from Ali Bagh in Kalapathar, who was pillion riding, fell and sustained injuries. Hasnath suffered severe head, abdominal, and left knee injuries, while Sajeed sustained a leg injury. Both were immediately rushed to a hospital by Rehan, with help from bystanders. Hasnath succumbed to his injuries on Oct 2 while undergoing treatment. “Sajeed is currently receiving care at a hospital in Gulzar Houz. His condition is stable,” said Bandlaguda inspector R Devender.“The driver has been identified as Rehan Bin Ali Masqati, a resident of Alijah Kotla. As per the law, we will issue a notice to him and proceed with further investigation,” the inspector added. In his complaint, Abdul Ismail, son of the deceased, stated that his father and Sajeed were returning home from Barkas when the accident occurred. “The accident happened due to the rash and negligent driving of the four-wheeler driver. Initiate appropriate legal action against him,” he said. Police have registered a case under sections 106(1) (causing death due to negligence) and 125(a) (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the BNS.
