Undeterred by poverty, a 29-year-old Dalit woman from Manakondur in Karimnagar district scripted a success story by securing a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) job after cracking the TGPSC Group-I exam.

Modumpally Maheshwari showed unwavering resolve and grit in securing the job in pursuit of her late father’s dream to see her as a civil servant. She said she owes her success to the Telangana SC Study Circle in Hyderabad where she took coaching for Civil Services exam.

Financial constraints did not deter her from chasing her academic and career goals. She completed her graduation from the Government Women’s Degree College in Karimnagar and M.Sc (Physics) from the University PG College, Satavahana University in Godavarikhani of Peddapalli district.

Her father, Laxman, a Gulf migrant worker, died of heart attack in 2021. Her mother Shankaramma, an agriculture labourer, motivated her to continue her studies. “My father’s memories always inspire me and propel me to work hard to realise my full potential,” said Maheshwari.

Hard work, perseverance and self-motivation are the key to success in the competitive recruitment exams, she said, adding that joining the Telangana SC Study Circle after her post-graduation was a turning point in her career.

Maheshwari wants to foster cyber safety awareness and empowerment of women through education. She also aims to crack the Civil Services exam.
