GHMC Cleans Shah Hatim Talab

Hyderabad: To tackle the mosquito menace in Tolichowki, the GHMC said it had completed large-scale cleaning drive at Shah Hatim Talab. Over the past 90 days, GHMC teams used specialised machinery to remove thick water hyacinth from the lake and sprayed chemicals to prevent mosquito breeding. Officials said the operation would significantly help in controlling mosquito growth in the surrounding localities, especially with the onset of the monsoon season.

2BHK pattas distributed at Mankal

Hyderabad: BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Friday distributed pattas to beneficiaries of the 2BHK housing project at Mankal Phase II in Maheshwaram. A total of 1,730 families from Charminar (500), Malakpet (500), Yakutpura (500) and Chandrayangutta (230) constituencies received ownership documents for their allotted units.

The housing colony, spread over 12.08 acres, comprises buildings constructed in a cellar-stilt-nine-floor pattern. Officials said that several beneficiaries had faced delays in moving into their homes due to an ongoing court case, even though some had already received allotment letters. With the distribution of pattas, the process is expected to be completed soon.

HMDA begins major restructuring after expansion

Hyderabad: Following the recent expansion of its jurisdiction from 7,257 sq. km to 10,526 sq. km—now covering 11 districts, 104 mandals and 1,359 villages — the HMDA has initiated a major internal restructuring of its internal organisation, operations and human resources.

The reorganisation will include the creation of zonal divisions headed by zonal commissioners to improve strategic planning and policy execution. HMDA will also set up a consultative framework to strengthen coordination among departments.

“The new framework will allow the Metropolitan Commissioner to focus on strategic planning and policy-making,” an HMDA official said. The restructuring is expected to accelerate the development of elevated corridors, radial roads, and multi-modal transport hubs, and also expedite the preparation of the Master Plan 2050, he added.
