Hyderabad woman residing in Canada seeks Telangana government’s help to locate husband

A woman hailing from Old Malakpet of Hyderabad, currently residing in Canada, has turned to the Telangana government for assistance to locate her husband who allegedly left for Germany without informing her.

Shabana Nasrin Ahmed attended the ‘Praja Vani’ programme, Telangana’s grievance redressal platform, with a plea to trace her husband, Mujamil Gulab Nayak.

The appeal was taken up by vice-chairman of the State Planning Board and Praja Vani in-charge G. Chinna Reddy, who wrote to the Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Seshadri, requesting immediate intervention.

Acting on the instructions of the Chief Minister’s Office, the General Administration Department (Women’s Welfare Section) of the Secretariat forwarded the matter to the Indian embassies in Germany and Canada, as well as to the Ministry of External Affairs. The Additional Director General of Police, Women’s Welfare Section, was also asked to conduct a detailed inquiry. Officials said the process was completed within four days.

Mr. Reddy subsequently received a communication from Joint Secretary of the General Administration Department, Shiva Lingayya, confirming the action taken.

The woman has a four-year-old daughter, and her husband’s signature is required on essential documents, including her Indian passport application. The State government has assured her of full support and is making efforts to trace the man and provide the family with justice, said a release.
