For decades, residents of Nellore city faced the problem of waterlogging at the railway under-bridge in Ramalingapuram. During the rains, traffic often came to a standstill and pedestrians were forced to wade through knee-deep water.

The long-pending issue has now been resolved with the construction of a cement concrete road, culvert and footpath, completed in 50 days at a cost of ₹1.17 crore. The bridge, a crucial link between the city and its suburbs, had long awaited repair.
Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy took up the project on priority and ensured its timely completion. The renovated facility was inaugurated by 15-year-old Puttamreddy Saharsha Reddy, grandson of a local Jana Sena Party leader.
“This symbolic gesture is aimed at recognising the NDA partners and encouraging participation of the younger generation in social, political and developmental activities,” Mr. Sridhar Reddy told reporters.
He recalled that the repair work was taken up following a complaint received from a local resident over phone. “This progress would not have been possible without the support of Minister for Municipal Administration P. Narayana and Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy,” he added.
Former Mayor Nandimandalam Bhanusri, TDP leader Kotamreddy Giridhar Reddy and local corporator Maramreddy Jyotipriya were among those who attended the programme.
