Samsung starts teasing a new high-end foldable phone

After launching three new foldable phones a few months ago, Samsung is ready to unveil at least two more. One of these is a tri-folding device, while the other is a new device that the company has just started teasing. This new device will be exclusive to the Chinese market.

Samsung W26 could be slightly different than the Galaxy Z Fold 7

Samsung has begun teasing a foldable phone in China, with its announcement scheduled for October 11. This device will likely be called the W26 and will be available exclusively in one country. Similar to the W24 and W25, the W26 will probably be based on the most recent Galaxy Z Fold series device at the time, which is currently the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

In the teaser image posted above, you can see the silhouette of the upcoming phone. Similar to its predecessors, it will be available in black and red colours with a golden frame.

The device likely features the same internal hardware as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, including the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. It could launch with One UI 8.0 and come with a promise of up to seven generations of Android OS updates.

The Samsung W26 could feature a 6.5-inch OLED cover screen, an 8-inch foldable OLED screen, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. It may also have an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance and an Enhanced Armor Aluminum frame.

While it’s unclear if the phone will have the same 4,400mAh battery as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, it will likely include 25W fast wired charging and 15W wireless charging.

The upcoming device will likely feature two 10MP selfie cameras, a 200MP primary rear camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom with OIS. It may also have stereo speakers, 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, UWB, NFC, and a USB 3.2 Type-C port.
