Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) has registered its best-ever performance in both freight and passenger segments between April and September this year, recording a gross originating revenue of Rs 10,143 crore, surpassing last year’s best of Rs 9,966 crore.
According to SCR officials, the zone achieved an all-time high freight loading of 71.14 million tonnes (MTs), up 6 per cent from 67 MTs in the same period last year, contributing Rs 6,635 crore to revenue.
The increase was driven mainly by higher transportation of iron ore, raw materials for steel plants, and cement, they said.
Meanwhile, passenger revenue also showed growth, touching Rs 2,991 crore, a 2.8 per cent rise from Rs 2,909 crore in 2024-25. Vande Bharat Express services, special trains, and additional coaches have helped ease demand and boost earnings.
SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava lauded the achievement and urged staff and officers to maintain the momentum to set new benchmarks by the end of the current financial year.
