Terrace party turns violent, group obstructs cops; case registered

Hyderabad: A midnight party on the terrace of a multi-storied building in Aurora Colony, Banjara Hills, spiralled into a confrontation with police in the early hours of Monday, prompting the registration of a criminal case against the revellers.According to police, constable M Bharath Kumar and home guard Mohammed Imran responded to a ‘Dial 100′ complaint at 1am on Monday about shouting, whistling, and bottle-throwing by a group from Aurora Colony on Road Number 2, Banjara Hills. When the patrol team, accompanied by night round officer woman sub-inspector (WSI) Sandhya Rani, tried to reach the fourth-floor terrace, revellers allegedly unleashed a pet dog, forcing police personnel to flee the premises for their safety.Once reinforcements arrived, cops entered the premises through another way, bypassing the dog. “About 20 persons rushed at us, questioning our presence,” constable Kumar stated in his complaint. “While dodging the group, I suffered a cut on my right hand ring finger,” the complaint stated. As police descended the stairs, the accused allegedly blocked their path, hurled abuses, and threatened to strip the constable. On the complaint of Bharath Kumar, a case was registered against Ajay, Shiva, Ravi, and others under Sections 121(1), 126(2), 291, 292, 352, and 189(5) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for obstructing a public servant, criminal intimidation, and creating public nuisance. “The accused are friends of the building watchman’s son. They all do different private jobs. We are in the process of identifying the accused. Once identified, we will issue notices to them as per the law to appear for questioning,” Banjara Hills SI K Vijay said.
