Actress Rhea Chakraborty has received her passport back after almost five years. The Bombay High Court recently ordered the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to return it. The passport had been kept with the NCB because of the 2020 drugs case linked to the death of her late partner, actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Rhea shared the news on Instagram on Friday, posting a picture of herself holding the passport at the airport. She wrote, “Patience was my only passport for the past 5 years. Countless battles. Endless hope. Today, I hold my passport again. Ready for my Chapter 2! Satyameva Jayate.”
After Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in June 2020, Rhea was taken into custody by the NCB in September 2020 in a drug-related case. She was later granted bail but had to give her passport to the NCB and needed court permission for any foreign travel.
Rhea’s lawyer had filed a request for her passport to be returned, saying its seizure was stopping her from working abroad. The High Court agreed. The court allowed her to get the passport back with some conditions. She must attend all court hearings unless excused, share her travel plans with the authorities, and keep her phone active to stay in touch with the probe agencies.
Rhea was last seen in the movie Chehre (2021) with Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi. She is also known for films like Sonali Cable and Jalebi. On TV, she appeared in MTV Roadies: Karm Ya Kaand and MTV Roadies: Double Cross.
