AP government promotes leather industry by opening Lidcap stalls at tourist places | Vijayawada News


Vijayawada: To promote the leather industry, the state govt decided to open Lidcap (Leather Industries Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh) stalls at tourist places across the state. Minister for tourism, culture and cinematography, Kandula Durgesh, announced that the Lidcap stalls will promote products made by local workers by providing better market connectivity.Durgesh participated as the chief guest in the Lidcap day celebrations held at Guntur on Saturday. He said that the local leather industry has the potential to compete with multinational companies. He thanked chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for providing training to the youth. He observed that Lidcap should expand its product portfolio from footwear to other accessories. He asked the workers who depend on the leather industry to update their knowledge according to the prevailing market conditions.Durgesh opined that the state and central govts should provide more funds to institutions like Lidcap for developing new products and skill training. He promised to take up the issue with the chief minister for the allocation of more funds. Durgesh also launched CBN Raksha Kendras and distributed certificates to the youth trained by Lidcap.
