The incapable and lawless misrule of the A. Revanth Reddy government in Telangana has pushed the State to the bottom of the GST collection growth rate table in the country in a matter of less than two years, working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K.T. Rama Rao said on Friday.
Just two years back Telangana was at the top in the GST collection growth rate in the country under the leadership of K. Chandrasekhar Rao, but once the Congress government led by Mr. Revanth Reddy took over the GST collection headed southwards in all sectors, starting from agriculture and real estate, Mr. Rama Rao said in a statement.
Alleging that the financial condition of the State had been destroyed completely under the rule of Mr. Revanth Reddy, he attributed lack of experience in governance and lack of will to learn from others had led to the current situation. He said this based on the release of GST collection statistics for September 2025 released by the Centre, wherein it was placed at the bottom of the growth rate table.
Stating that it was a clear indication of the bad condition in which Telangana’s financial position was parked now, the BRS working president said it was reflecting how badly the financial sector was being managed in the Congress rule. Exactly two years ago, the State was at the top of the GST collection growth rate table with all sectors from agriculture to IT (information technology) making their contribution. All sectors were looking southwards even in the festive season which would generally pull up revenues, he said and requested the government to take all steps to check the slide and put back the State’s economy on the track of growth and progress.
Meanwhile, Mr. Rama Rao left the city for a three-day vacation on Friday.
