Kamareddy: Despite the recent heavy rains, residents of double bedroom houses in Rameshwarpally village are struggling for drinking water and have been fetching pots of water from agricultural wells for the past 20 days.
Angered by official apathy, the villagers staged a protest on the Kamareddy–Rajanna Sircilla main road on Saturday, demanding immediate supply of safe drinking water to their colony.
Raising slogans against the government, they alleged that despite repeated complaints, the officials failed to resolve the problem. The residents said they were left with no option but to draw drinking water from nearby agricultural wells.
Officials and police rushed to the spot and assured the villagers that their grievance would be addressed at the earliest. With this assurance, the protestors dispersed.
However, they warned that they would intensify their agitation if sufficient drinking water was not supplied soon.
