Vijayawada: A youngster was booked by the Guntur district police for performing dangerous bike stunts on the Guntur-Vijayawada national highway. The stunts were captured on video which went viral on social media.According to police, the accused, identified as Ramesh Babu, a resident of Vijayawada, carried out a series of dangerous stunts in February this year while riding a scooter. His reckless acts included riding the scooter with his hands off the handle, lying down on the scooter while controlling it with his legs, and riding it while sitting sideways. These stunts were reportedly performed near prominent areas such as Nagarjuna University, Kaja Toll Plaza, and Chinna Kakani.Videos of these stunts went viral on social media, drawing attention from authorities. Upon learning about the incidents, the district SP directed Mangalagiri rural SI Chirumamilla Venkat to investigate the matter. Following a thorough investigation, the police identified Ramesh Babu and took legal action by registering a case against him.During the inquiry, Ramesh Babu admitted that he works as a car mechanic in Ibrahimpatnam and often performs stunts on scooters and bikes. He also confirmed that he personally uploaded videos of his stunts on social media platforms.Mangalagiri rural SI Chirumamilla Venkat emphasised the dangers of such stunts, noting that these acts could attract young people and lead to severe accidents or loss of life. He stated that any individual caught performing such risky manoeuvres will face legal action, underlining the police’s zero-tolerance approach towards public endangerment.After counselling by the police, the youth expressed remorse and acknowledged the hazards of his actions. He assured that he would never attempt such stunts again and urged others to refrain from performing similar dangerous manoeuvres that could put their lives at risk.
