BHPian Grand Tourer recently shared this with other enthusiasts: I got my Hyundai Verna DCT back in 2023 and since then, my only concern has been the headlights. While driving home to Kerala, I had a near miss with a drunkard fumbling around on the highway when he decided to stop in the middle of the road and perform some form of dance. Luckily, I was driving through the Madurai bypass, so I was at around 50 to 60 kmph and saw this and was able to manoeuvre away just in time. With this near miss, I decided it was time to do something about the headlights. After seeing a few videos, I first contacted Autofocus to enquire about the Octa P lights. It turned out to be exorbitantly expensive and even with this amount, I was hesitant about opening up the OEM lights and operating on that. Moreover, thinking ahead, if any issues, I didn’t want to keep opening up the headlights, so I gave it a pass. I also saw videos of folks putting the bracket along with the fogs, so I decided to explore that further. Made a few phone calls and got suggestions of brands like Blaupunkt, Inaxes (didn’t hear of this one before) and Aozoom. I’ve heard good reviews of Aozoom, so I decided to check it out a bit more. I contacted Aozoom support and they provided me their contact person, Mr Suprabhat in Bangalore. I contacted him and by just speaking to him for a few minutes, I was more confident that he would be able to pull off the install. He was quite knowledgeable and knew what was needed. He suggested going for the FLP2040. I finalized this and informed that I would be there on Oct 2nd. Luckily, he was working and his installer was available. A bonus for me since I had to drive this big car in the city around so since traffic was less, I went ahead. I visited his office and asked him about the different models and the differences. He explained the 2030 models and compared them to the 2040 models. I decided to go ahead with the 2040 since it was bi-focal like glasses. The pics below will show the effectiveness of this. He got the brackets and the panels well before I got there, so there was no need to wait for the parts. The installer came and started the work immediately. He didn’t have to remove the bumper entirely. He opened the sides of the bumper and worked within that space. He started off with setting up the wiring and the relay and then passing the wiring through the opening of the firewall into the cabin. He then installed 2 switches on the fuse box door, one to turn on the lights and the other to switch between low and high beams i.e. spread and spot focus. No OEM wire cutting was done and this circuit is completely on its own. He finally installed the panel along with the fogs and tested it. All was done in about 1 to 1.5 hours. Completed the transactions and decided to wait till evening to take the car out for a drive to Hosur. It was a world of difference with the throw of the light being at least 30 meters ahead (my judgment of distance may be bad, so please excuse) but I could see the light a great distance ahead. Adding to testing scenarios, it started raining, so I could check out the performance in the rain. The lights are a blessing in all mixtures of conditions, with the common denominator being dark/night. All in all, a good investment. I’ll be doing a trip to Kerala later in Oct so will post more info about the performance. If you would like to get it done, here’s the Google location to his place. I’ve also included the latest product catalog shared by Mr Suprabhat. Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
