The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) criticised the State government for increasing the TGSTRC bus fares in the city and forcing a burden of at least ₹500 a month on the poor.
In a statement, working president of BRS K.T. Rama Rao said on Sunday that instead of bailing out the public transport company by providing some concessions, the Congress government had allowed an increase in the bus fare after allowing bus pass charges recently. “It is nothing but an indication of the inefficiency of the Congress government,” he said.
“The decision to burden RTC passengers with fare increase will be more burdensome on daily wagers who commute to different places in search of work, irrespective of the assurance of getting the day’s work. The government has already burdened the student community by increasing the monthly bus pass charges and T-24 ticket charges,” he added.
