Man, who gunned down Hyderabad youth in Texas, arrested

Hyderabad: A 23-year-old man was arrested by the Fort Worth police in Dallas, Texas, in connection with the incident wherein a youth from Hyderabad was shot dead at a gas station on Oct 3.The victim, Pole Chandrasekhar, from Teacher’s Colony at BN Reddy Nagar, LB Nagar in Hyderabad, was working at the Fort Worth Express gas station on Eastchase Parkway near the Interstate 30 eastbound ramp in Fort Worth, Texas, when Richard Damion Florez opened fire at him. The gas station staff informed 911 about the incident, after which police personnel reached the spot and found the victim dead. Chandrasekhar, 28, went to the US and did his Master’s from the University of Texas. He completed his studies in data analytics and was looking for a job, while working at a gas station to meet his financial needs.Around 8.45pm on Oct 3, Florez, who gunned down Chandrasekhar, fled in the same car in which he reached the gas station. Within a mile from there, he reportedly fired shots at another car, but none of its occupants were injured. Later, he crashed his car through a metal gate of a house on Meadowbrook Drive and attempted to enter the residence.On being alerted, reportedly by the resident of the house, police reached the spot and arrested Florez. The suspect was first taken to a hospital to get treated for some injuries he sustained. According to police records, he is currently lodged at a jail, and a case has been registered against him for first-degree murder. A weapon was also seized from the suspect.Police are yet to provide information on the motive behind the murder, shooting at the car, and crashing into the house. Police records show that Florez was booked for the murder at 5.30am on Oct 4.
