Hyderabad: A video showing a group of young men verbally harassing a foreign woman tourist near Charminar has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage.In the minute-long video, one of the men is heard shouting a racial and sexual slur at the woman. A foreign man, who seemed to be her friend, stepped in and warned the group, saying, “Sir, you should be careful about what you say because people can hear you. Be careful.”Many users online claimed that the video was recorded earlier this month, expressing anger over how such incidents damage Hyderabad’s reputation. However, Charminar police said the video may actually be around three years old.The Hyderabad police responded to the video on social media, saying that the issue has been brought to the notice of the Charminar station house officer (SHO) and action is being taken. A Ramesh, SHO Charminar, told TOI, “We only found out about this incident today (Sunday). I have been told that the video is about three years old, but we are checking with the police IT cell to confirm. We are working to identify those involved and take appropriate action.”
