Took it out for a spin after a gap, but my “Lady in Black” behaved exceedingly well though in the sparse traffic where driving at the top gear for a major stretch on today’s route was no issue. The drive was after a gap, though static starts were done every weekend to keep its mechanicals in good shape. Sunday’s and holidays are too good for these old machines that revel in the sparse traffic, most likely reminding the machines of the memorable times when they reigned on our roads. These machines obviously need more space for maneuvering as they belong to the times when there would either rarely be bumper to bumper traffic or scores of cars, two/ three wheelers and CV’s clogging the roads, with everyone moving in a great hurry. Their braking distance is longer than today’s cars and their turning radius also doesn’t compare with the newer cars. Hence, holidays are better preferred for outings with such old treasures.
