Shobu Yarlagadda Confirms Baahubali The Epic Runtime

Baahubali The Epic is not just a re-release. It’s a reimagined version of India’s biggest cinematic saga, merging both Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion into one grand feature. The film is set for a worldwide release on October 31, across premium large formats including IMAX, Dolby Vision, 4DX, D-Box and EpiQ.

Ever since the announcement of this special cut, there’s been widespread curiosity about its runtime. Many wondered if audiences could sit through what could easily be a five-hour-long film. To clear the air, producer Shobu Yarlagadda shared exclusive details with Gulte.com in an in-depth conversation marking a decade of Baahubali and ahead of Baahubali The Epic release.

“We trimmed a few scenes, songs, and transitions to make it a tighter theatrical experience,” Shobu revealed. “The film will run for about 3 hours 40 to 3 hours 42 minutes. The first half covers The Beginning, and the second half continues with The Conclusion. The iconic moment, ‘Why Kattappa Killed Baahubali’ now serves as the interval point.”

For fans who grew up with the franchise, the runtime won’t be an issue. Interestingly, Baahubali The Epic runs slightly shorter than Pushpa 2: The Rule, which clocks in at 3 hours 44 minutes, making it one of the lengthiest films in recent times.

In the hour-long discussion, Shobu also spoke about the possibilities of a Baahubali 3, whether an announcement can be expected in The Epic, and shared rare trivia – like the original casting choices for key roles.
