For many users, the most used camera on their smartphone is the one they take selfies with. Naturally, it’s one that users want to see updated, as an improved sensor would ostensibly result in better selfies.
While some camera upgrades are on the cards for next year’s Galaxy S26 series, a new rumor claims that the selfie camera will be the same across all three, or four, models of the Galaxy S26.
It may be business as usual for the selfie camera
The rumor claims that all Galaxy S26 models will feature a 12-megapixel selfie camera. If we go by the 12-megapixel resolution alone, it would appear that Samsung will repeat the same selfie camera that it has been using on the Galaxy S series for a couple of years now.
Samsung moved to the 12-megapixel f/2.2 dual pixel PDAF selfie camera with the Galaxy S23 series in 2023. All models since then have featured the same sensor. It’s unclear if the company will opt for an upgraded sensor with the same megapixel count for the Galaxy S26 series, or if it will continue to use this tried and tested component.
It’s not a bad selfie camera, it’s actually pretty decent, and when combined with the continued improvement in Samsung’s camera processing software, it can easily hold up its own when compared to what’s offered by other flagship phones.
Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series is set to arrive early next month. Earlier reports had suggested that there would only be three models, the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, new rumors have suggested that Samsung may be bringing back the Galaxy S26+ from the dead.
