BHPian am1m recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Pleasant experience for a change. Came back home to find that, as usual someone else’s car was parked outside our house. Fortunately, not blocking either of our gates for a change, but since the opposite house also parks their car outside and the road is narrow, this meant that there was not enough space for anything but a small car to pass through. I knew which house the car belonged to, but since I didn’t plan on taking our car out anytime soon, and I was tired after a day out, I didn’t want to go and ask them to move it. So I just parked my bike inside and let it be. Sure enough 20 mins later there is honking. One of the other neighbors couldn’t pass through in his SUV. Went out to tell him that it wasn’t my car blocking his way and to tell him to talk to the two houses that owned the cars that were, but saw that one of the car owners had already come out, was apologizing to the car being blocked and was moving his car. When he saw me, he also apologized for parking in front of our place and explained that he normally parks elsewhere but since there was some work going on at his place, he needed to park for a few hours. We got talking and connected, was a pleasure to speak with a neighbor in this way. So yeah, still the basic issues remain, the roads are narrow, people are buying cars without having parking space and parking cars on the road is a nuisance. But at least it is a pleasure to deal with a decent neighbor for a change. Not one who gets aggressive when you point out the obvious! And so it does make sense to at least initiate a conversation before escalating. Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
